Swansil 20
20cSt Silicone Fluid
Description • Instructions • Sizes, Prices & Offers • Safety Data Sheet Swansil silicone fluids are pure polydimethylsiloxane fluids with a wide range of industrial applications stemming from their inherent properties of inertness, non-toxicity and non-flammability. Typical industrial applications • Heat transfer fluid. • Lubricant. • Heat bath fluid. • Release agent. • Anti-foam agent. • Damping fluid. • Hydraulic fluid. Heat transfer fluids Swansil is widely used as a heat transfer fluid in industrial applications where non-flammability and chemical inertness are priorities, and in laboratory heat baths and calibration equipment. Depending on the viscosity grade, Swansil can be used up to 180°C in an open, unpressurised system without degradation. Lubrication Swansil silicone fluids provide excellent lubrication in many situations where a very low friction interface is required, such as certain sliding mechanisms, cable pulling/blowing, plastic linkages, curtain tracks and similar applications. Swansil is also available in a convenient aerosol form, ideal for these types of uses. Handling safety and toxicity Silicone fluids have a very low order of toxicity and present negligible skin irritation problems, particularly in comparison with mineral oil based and aromatic hydrocarbon alternatives often encountered in heat transfer and lubrication applications. In addition, being non-flammable and having a flash point in excess of 320°C for certain grades, Swansil silicone fluids offer enhanced safety in use and in the event of equipment malfunction involving fluid loss. Physical properties • Clear, non-toxic, odourless fluid. • Low viscosity - temperature change. • Wide operational temperature range. • Excellent thermal stability. • Chemically inert. • Non-flammable. • Low surface tension. • High compressibility. • High shear stability. • Excellent heat conductivity. • Excellent dielectric properties. • Non-corrosive. Swansil is available in a very wide range of viscosities, from 0.65cSt to 60,000cSt, with common grades available from stock and any other viscosities available to order for customers with precise requirements who need a custom blend.
