Application/Tech Guide - Greases
Compatibility Cross Reference Chart for Lubricating Greases
Description • Instructions • Sizes, Prices & Offers
There is a wide variety of greases on the market, these contain different ingredients and therefore may not all be compatible with each other
Generally speaking, it is usually advisable to re-lubricate with the same grease.
If a change of grease is required, then it is important to select a grease type based on the same thickener as previous grease, this will overcome the need to purge the grease from the bearing prior to refilling.
Thickeners of different structures may lead to breakdown of the lubricant.
When one grease is being replaced by a different type of grease, anti-friction bearings and grease-ways need to be cleaned before recharging with fresh grease.
If it is not possible to clean the bearings, then re-lubrication intervals need to be more frequent (say twice as often) until the new grease has completely replaced the previous lubricant. This practice should continue for the next 3-4 applications.
